01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Salty ham and mellow cheese meet the sharpness of black pepper and the heat of jalapeño. Sunao Coffee’s Ham & Cheese crepe makes a satisfying light meal, with a flavour profile quite different from a sweet crepe. One customer who ordered it said the black pepper and jalapeño stood out against the richness of the ham and cheese, making it more grown-up in flavour than expected. The batter uses 100% French wheat and is described on the menu as crisp on the outside and chewy within.

Hand-dripped coffee is a natural pairing. The café lists beans from Indonesia, Brazil, Ethiopia and Guatemala, and one diner who had the Ham & Cheese with coffee found it just right for a light meal. For something sweet, try Sugar & Butter, made with fermented butter and beet sugar, or a version with lemon peel. There is also a crepe combining organic chocolate with roasted almonds and pink pepper, offering a more grown-up twist alongside simpler sweet options.

The café is attached to POINT NO.39, a shop for antique furniture and lighting, so browsing the furniture and homewares is part of the experience while your crepe is prepared. You can also drop in just for coffee, surrounded by furniture and lighting. Other drinks include lemonade made with Setouchi lemons and spices, and ginger ale made with syrup using ginger from Kochi Prefecture. Choose coffee with your crepe, or go for a spiced or ginger-based drink to suit your mood.
